Kathy Jensen, Artist
My interest in art started at a very young age, influenced by my mother who was an art teacher. I have early memories of doing art projects with my mom and drawing next to her when she was working on her paintings.
Many of the art techniques and mediums I use have been inspired by a lifetime of art classes. Enjoying the challenge and opportunity to create art in different mediums has influenced my artwork. One of my most beloved mediums to work with is clay. My journey with becoming a clay sculptor began in the early 70’s. I had the opportunity to study under the Cuban sculptor Rosa Estebanez for many years. Later my sculpting was influenced further as I studied under other Sculptors in California and Mexico.
The subjects I choose for my art are also inspired by my travel. My most favorite art genres include African animals, people, southwest, rainforests, birds, and flora.
